Great Dismal Swamp Southern Pine Pen Blank

LIMITED QUANTITIES - Certificate of Authenticity included

The pen blanks are cut, dried, stabilized and dyed gold to limit cracking and checking.

The wood used in this pen is made from recovered logs that are centuries old. These logs been preserved underwater in the Great Dismal Swamp located between southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The logs were recovered with permission from the US National Park Service and were harvested in an ecofriendly manner.

In 1763 George Washington founded the Dismal Swamp Company in order to drain the swamp and harvest the lumber. Instead, he just harvested the lumber and some of thousands of logs that were floated down the swamp never made it to the mills. These logs are the ones being harvested today.

    • Very aromatic, maybe even too aromatic. Chris
